A structured programme for teams to step back and reset how they work together.
It is used where communication has slipped, expectations are unclear or there is tension that is not being addressed.
The programme creates space for honest conversation about how the team is functioning day to day. It focuses on psychological safety and how people communicate with each other, especially when things are difficult. Issues are explored openly, without blame.
The focus is on understanding what is happening, why it is happening, and what needs to change.
This might include:
- A team where communication has become unclear or inconsistent
- Ongoing tension or frustration that is not being spoken about openly
- A lack of trust or reluctance to speak up
- Different expectations around behaviour or accountability
- A new or changing team that has not settled into a shared way of working
- A team that feels stuck or unsure how to move forward
Across a series of sessions, the programme looks at how the team communicates, how trust is built or lost and how patterns develop over time. It introduces more direct, adult ways of working together and helps the team move away from avoidance or assumption.
Sessions are practical and at times, uncomfortable. They are designed to surface what is already there and work through it, rather than staying at a surface level.
This is done in a way that is structured and contained so people feel able to be open without things becoming unhelpful. Each session is closed with time to reflect, re-centre and ensure individuals leave in a grounded, constructive place.
There is a strong focus on shared responsibility throughout. At the end of each session, the team identifies actions based on the issues discussed and takes ownership for making changes between sessions. This may include addressing conversations that have been avoided or testing new ways of working. The team will put agreed expectations into practice, with time built in to reflect on progress and revisit challenges in the following session.
The team develops a shared set of values, expectations and behaviours that reflect how they want to work going forward. These are captured and used as a reference point to maintain consistency and hold each other to account. Over time, this leads to clearer communication, stronger working relationships and a more stable, psychologically safe environment. It helps teams address issues earlier and creates a more sustainable way of working.
